I also made  an old couple – The Perssons, based on my grand parents, that’s meant to live in the house. There’s the handyman Olof who loves painting and building things. And then there’s Ruth who loves to cook and watch a good soap opera on tv.

Taking pictures of your home in The Sims 3 can be a real pain – especially those really small rooms, like a bathroom or a small working area. Yet you keep seeing these perfect wide angled screenshots at every Sims-forum and no matter how much you try to place that damn camera you can’t get the same result.

Search no more – here’s the secret to taking good pictures of your home (right after the jump).

TAB!

No, not the soft drink Homer, the key on your keyboard. It’s placed just above Caps Lock, or left of the Q key, or three steps up from the fn key if you’re on a MacBook Pro, or one step down and five steps left of the number 6 key.

Did you find it? Good, let’s move on then, shall we?

When you play The Sims 3 (you have to be in “play mode”, “building mode” doesn’t work) just press the TAB key (you know where it is!) to enter “Cameraman mode”. Now you can adjust the camera just right to get the perfect shot. Use the arrow keys to move around, move the mouse to chose the angle, Z and X zooms in and out, and C takes the picture.

There you go, easy as cherry pie!

Had a burst of inspiration this night, so I decided to make a small, red, classic, swedish cottage. I haven’t finnished it yet, so this is just a small preview of what’s to come.

I was inspired by the style of my last build to make a similar house but much, much cheaper this time. I had the basic lay-out of the house already figured out so creating the “shell” for the house went very fast. I’m very pleased with how it all came out and wouldn’t mind living there in the real life The loft area is my favourite, I love the view over the kitchen and the huge windows letting in loads of light (notice the curtains though, for those days you just wanna stay inside in the dark).

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a small office with a fireplace, big kitchen, a loft with tv area and chill out area. It’s very slick and modern with a scandinavian touch, lots of modern tree-interior and many big windows. Simoleons needed: 60 000+.

The dining area with no table for once. I liked the use of a bar better in this case. The door leds out to the BBQ area.

The bedroom, nothing special really. I like the blue wall with the lamps on though.

Bathroom, accessed only through the bedroom. No shower, just a bathtub. The orange chair is a nice colorful touch. I love how the disableSnappingToSlotsOnAlt-cheat lets you place things exactly like you want them to (the chair and carpet in this case).

TV area at the loft. Looks really cozy I used the disableSnappingToSlotsOnAlt-cheat to place the armchairs and the TV.

This is my first, and most expensive, creation and contribution to The Sims 3-community. It’s a very big and luxurious villa with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a pool area, BBQ area, home cinema, garage and a huge garden. Since it’s very expensive (about 250-300 000 simoleons) it’s perfect for sims that have reached the highest level at work. Or for just for someone with lots of cash.

I’m a sucker for symetry and clean interiors, which is why there’s a lot of that in this house

fullscreen on/off
Adjusts your game screen to full or windowed mode.

constrainFloorElevation [true/false]
Allows all terrain adjustments regardless of objects, Sims, and other structures on them. Walls, floors, and objects will move with the terrain.

enableLlamas [on/off]
Gives a message that says, “Llamas enabled.”

jokePlease
Gives you a joke in the code console prompt.

hideHeadlineEffects [on/off]
Hides all meters and effects in the game, such as the plumbbob and skill meter.

quit
Like it says, quits the game.

help
Lists all available commands at the moment.

slowMotionViz <level>
Puts the game in slow motion. Optional parameter, value 0 = normal speed and 8 = slowest.

resetSim <fi rstname> <lastname>
Resets the named Sim with neutral motives, no moodlets, and teleports Sim back home.

fps on/off
Shows your Frame per Second in the upper right area while on.

fadeObjects [on/off]
Toggles whether objects fade when the camera gets close to them.

testingcheatsenabled true
Turns on Testing Cheats, just shift+click a Sim, or anything else, like your Mailbox.

unlockOutfits on/off
Unlocks outfits in Create a Sim mode. This must be enabled before going into Create a Sim.

disableSnappingToSlotsOnAlt [on/off]
When on, objects will not snap to slots while holding the alt key.

kaching
While on the lot, entering this will give you $1,000 simoleons.

motherlode
While on the lot, entering this will give you 50,000 simoleons.

moveobjects on/off
With this On, it will allow you to move anything, including Sims, in your Buy/Build mode.
